It’s not an exact science but in a preheated frying pan with a touch of oil over a high heat I’d cook chicken breast, skin side down for about 5 minutes, then turn the breast over and reduce the heat to medium and cook for about 10 minutes. If you’re doing the same with bone in chicken joints it will take longer. The cooked chicken will feel firm when pressed with your finger.
