Maple syrup

Once you get into the habit of pouring maple syrup over porridge or Greek yoghurt and using it in place of sugar to sweeten all kinds of things, you're sure to get addicted.

Note: once opened it needs to be stored in the refrigerator and used within three months.

DID YOU KNOW? First collected and used by Native Americans, this lovely syrup is the sap from some maple trees, which collects in the roots during the winter and is then tapped in spring. Quebec in Canada is the world's largest producer. It takes 40 litres of sap to make 1 litre of syrup. It is available in various colour grades, which increase in intensity as they get darker: these reflect the stage of the season at which they were produced.
