protected with Imazalil, Pyrimethanil

Advice please, Lucy
After years of buying unwaxed citrus fruit for zesting I read the small print on the label -'protected with Imazalil, Pyrimethanil ,
2-Phenylphenol' - last week. All have a negative write up on internet and certainly sound best avoided.
Is searching for organic fruit the only safe option?
I would add I'm not super health conscious and have reached 82 fairly unscathed.
Many thanks, Ann
Hello Ann, Lindsey here!
This fungicide has been used for many years.
Other than what is freely available to read, we don’t know the scientific facts or seriousness.
Organic is a way of avoiding the consumption of any chemicals that are used to help prolong the life fresh foods, but obviously organic is more expensive and therefore a stretch too far for many.
We do wash most fresh fruits before use.
Kind regards
Lindsey
