Struggling with a Victoria Surprise cake tin
Asked on 3 Jun 2020 by Nanniecarolann
Hi, I hope you are well.
I have a Victoria surprise base set and I never have any luck with it. The mixture goes under the base and the base ends up in the middle of the sponge. I hope you can suggest something before I use them as frisbees.
Thanks. Carol.
Hello
I have to be honest; I have never used one, but I found the following review on Lakeland (coincidently from a reviewer called Carol!) which seems reassuring and helpful….
This product is excellent! There are 3 elements to the set, outer ring, flat base, raised base X 2. For the 'surprise' cake you just use the ring and the raised base (don't worry, it won't leak)! Line the flat area of the raised base (6.5 inches) with a circle of greaseproof paper, sticking it to the tin with a bit of butter. Then really grease and flour everything that is going to come into contact with the mixture (inc the greaseproof paper). After 10 mins resting turn the cake upside down onto a cooling rack, remove the ring and gently run around the edge of the raised base and lift off.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes
Lindsey
Thanks . I’ll give that a go and hopefully it’ll work.
