Garlic Crusher and 20ml Spoon
Asked on 9 Jun 2016 by Wendy
Hi Lindsey
My garlic crusher has broken after many years use. Do you think it's worth buying another especially with the microplane graters that are around and is there any difference between using a grater or crusher?
I've got some Delia'books from the 70's, has she always used the 20ml tablespoon or back then was it the 15ml one she used? There are a few of the recipes I'd like to use and just want to know.
Best regards

Hi Wendy,
Our garlic crusher broke not so long ago too and we replaced it with a pricier one hoping that it will last longer! I’m not keen on grated garlic but if I am without a crusher (or when it seems too much bother to wash it!) I do it on a board with some salt as we do in this video technique. I do love using the microplane for nutmeg.
The fact that Delia started publishing recipes so long ago is the very reason that we use the 20ml old fashioned kitchen spoon as that is what she used when she started developing recipes.
Many thanks for your regular questions Wendy; I think they are really helpful, especially for our newcomers.
